Today, weddings are all about customizing every detail to fit your unique style. You need to have the right colors, the right favors, the best food, and most importantly, a good song selection. Okay, not most importantly, but having fun songs throughout your wedding is a key to a successful night.

Every song has to be perfect, right? It may be easy to brainstorm song ideas for the father daughter dance and the bride and groom’s first dance, but what about the ever-important garter toss. Yeah you know, the part where the groom goes under the wife’s dress in front of their closest family and friends. That has no potential to make anyone feel uncomfortable at all. Right.

You might be thinking, “Why should I waste my time looking through a list of garter toss songs?” Because everyone is doing it. But seriously, it has been a wedding tradition for over seven hundred years so it's pretty much a requirement for every wedding. Picking out a song or two for the garter toss is just one more way to put you and your partner’s own little touch on the wedding.

You could easily go without a song. Although I wouldn’t advise doing this. It’s a good idea to have some music playing because people will be able to get into it more. Plus, if you have a funny or sort of risqué song, then the more willing your guests will be to let go and enjoy this awkward moment.

One option is to have no song playing while the groom removes the garter, and then being to play a song before the garter toss. These songs will work especially well for this.

Who Let The Dogs Out: I can’t really imagine any other instance in my life where I would consider using this.

Macho Man- The Village People: You can almost guarantee “YMCA” will be played at your wedding, so why not choose another song from The Village People

If you don’t want an actual song per say, you could pick a theme from this list below. Plus if you’re a movie or television buff, you have an excuse to work one of these into your wedding.

These songs could be considered offensive according to some people. But then again, the idea of the garter toss could be offensive to some people too, but that never stopped anyone. It’s not like YOU have to explain what the suggestive lyrics mean or why “that man was up that lady’s dress for so long.”

Plus, these songs can all be heard on the radio. And if you’re really worried about some of the lyrics being too wild, request that your DJ get edited songs for the wedding.
